Safety Audits differ from safety inspections in terms of their focus. The safety inspection primarily examines technical compliance in terms of seeing what is right or wrong in a fairly narrowly scoped area of activity i.e. one construction site, one production line etc. The consideration with regards to policy and procedure are considered but the focus remains on the technical rights and wrongs of the operation. A safety Audit looks specifically at the compliance of the whole business with its written policy and procedure, therefore the scope is much wider and the focus is based on policy and procedure and whether or not firstly the policy and procedure are complied with and whether or not the policy is compliant with current legislation. The outcome of the audit will result in an action list which can be prioritised to allow for the budgeting of resources and the development of an action plan.
